Develop a series of “Parent Playbooks” that demystify the secrets of success in school and life.

1.  Parent Playbook: raising a self-controlled, self-motivated, self-educating lifelong learner

2. Parent Playbook: encouraging dual language literacy

SCHOOL:

Advocate for the “Community Schools” model starting with Licton Springs Community Schools

Licton Springs Community Schools Draft PowerPoint This is a draft Powerpoint communications tool.  Please take a moment to look at it and provide some feedback.  The slides with a lot of text on them will become bullet points with a voiceover containing the expanded information or for live presentations, the speaker will fill in the detail.   The piece should explain what a community school is and what the Licton Springs Community School group is doing.   What changes should be made?

WORK:

Advocate for Seattle businesses to participate in job shadowing, internship and work study programs for middle school and high school students.

COMMUNITY:

Advocate for prek-12 mentors.  Mentors can help students to develop their own Personal Development Plans,  engage with their schools and teachers, navigate the prek-12 education landscape, and connect with opportunities to “test drive” their lives through the exploration of recreation, education and career pursuits that interest them.

GOVERNMENT:

Work with the government to develop model policy and legislation that responds to cost-effective strategies identified by The Achievement Gap Toolbox.
